At Holyrood Dental Care, we provide Valplast flexible dentures as a private treatment and a successful alternative to traditional dentures. They have a number of advantages over traditional acrylic dentures, including their improved aesthetics, stability, and comfort.
Book appointmentFlexible dentures are thin, lightweight, and resistant to fracture. Flexible, nylon-based dentures can look realistic, stay securely in place and be more comfortable to wear. Instead of metal clasps, they have thin finger-like extensions that fit or snap into natural concavities in the crowns of the teeth near the gum line. Flexible dentures also provide an option for enhancing the appearance of the adjacent teeth that can appear elongated due to gum recession and covering certain areas for an instant smile improvement.
Valplast flexible dentures are completely metal free, making them an excellent choice for patients who suffer allergic reactions to acrylic or metal materials. They are very effective at maintaining the space in your mouth, filling the gap in your smile to prevent your existing teeth from moving out of position.
Contact usMaking and fitting dentures can be quite an involved process so you may have to attend several appointments to ensure the final set of dentures are a secure and comfy fit.
We initially see you for a thorough consultation appointment, ensuring you are a suitable candidate for dentures. We take digital impressions of your teeth so your dentures can be made to a precise and accurate fit.
Your final set of dentures is manufactured in a specialist laboratory. When they are ready, we invite you into the practice for a fitting appointment. We ensure your dentures look and fit exactly as planned before showing you how to effectively place them in your mouth and remove them. We also give you some tips and advice on how to look after them.
In order to provide you with a cost for a Valplast flexible denture, we would first need to see you and advise if this type of denture is suitable for you. Typically the cost of the flexible denture is determined by the number of teeth required. Also they can be slightly more expensive than a private acrylic denture.
In most cases, you can have additional teeth added to your Valplast flexible denture at a later date. Your dentist will need to send your denture to a certified Valplast laboratory to have the teeth added. This can take 3-5 working days.
Valplast partial dentures are very durable and are designed to give many years of use under normal usage. Please note that the Valplast material (the pink resin) will resist fracture or breakage better than the synthetic teeth that are embedded within it. Small accidents such as dropping the Valplast denture in the sink or on the floor will not damage the Valplast material but may cause the teeth to fracture. Please handle your denture with care.
It is important to treat your dentures with care, to ensure they last as long as possible. Your dentures need to be removed for regular cleaning and to enable you to brush your existing natural teeth to prevent plaque and decay. Your denture should be left to soak in a special solution overnight at least three times a week, but avoid brushing it with a normal toothbrush to minimise any damage. If possible, rinse your Valplast partial denture after eating to remove any food particles.
It can take a little while to get used to your new dentures. They may feel odd at first and eating can be tricky, so it may be a good idea to start with softer foods and slowly introduce more challenging items. The amount of saliva in your mouth may increase, but this should soon improve as your mouth gets used to your replacement teeth.
